Early last year then we had a small amount of sears that did not get hand-deburred to specification, this mistake caused a handful of MDR's to experience trigger reset issues, most were properly deburred but in order to prevent any potential mistakes in the future we changed the machining operation to skim cut the spot that previously needed manual debur. We did not realize that Sootch's rifle was an older gun that was impacted by this when we upgraded it with the new extractor and gas valve. It is unfortunate because after we sent the replacement sear pack then the rifle was 100%. The important thing is that we have permanently fixed all of the issues with the MDR's reliability and now it is 100%, does that mean there aren't rifles out there still with previous issues, NO, but that is why we instated a new Lifetime warranty policy that is transferable to any owner because we didn't want to just fix the new stuff thats shipping, we also want to fix any initial rifles that need upgrades.

Unfortunately these revisions that haven't been logged are still a problem with the platform. I sent mine in because the right side charging handle wouldn't work because it was an "old" revision they had it for a month and a half got it back and it still won't charge. Was told that the replacement part must have been one of the old revisions too... So if you send it in for warranty work they replace it with old parts that are out of spec...what a joke... Now I am waiting on a replacement part that they will make sure is up to date but I'm not confident it will fix the problem. I want to love the platform but I just want a working rifle, there is no way it was actually tested when they had it for a month and a half, just for it to get to me and magically not work...

bronzeguy my experience has been with the F88 and EF88 based off the AUG. but they’re heavier than an AR, squashy trigger, can’t shoot off hand, can’t drop mag with master hand whilst reloading with left ( left hand for both). I’m not saying bullpups are terrible and our rifle is a good rifle there’s just better things out there

You know, maybe its a good idea to triple check these things. I mean there is allot of internet hubub going on about the MDR working. And what people need is just on video a one working just as you said. And if you keep making these Mistakes, its gonna be hard to believe. At this point, I would just say you might aswell need a new ad, or marketing video where you put in big text all these changes. and call it MDR v3 or something.

Caused a handful of MDRs to experience trigger reset issues? In minute 7 Sootch says you told him you never heard of trigger reset issues. Can you explain this curious discrepancy?

Where_have_I_been Could you elaborate on why we would not want bullpups? I had the M-4 when I was in the US Army, so I don’t have experience with them as a service rifle. However, I own two bullpups, in addition to my AR rifles, and I very much see the pros and cons.

Question: Why a 7.62 in a bullpup design? The bullpup design was created for CBQ which calls into question the use of 7.62 in a bullpup. IMO, the X95 plus a Geissele Super Sabra / Lightning Bow and maybe an AFG and a Holosun 403GL and you have the perfect HD weapon. This is what Stoner says regarding the 7.62 v 5.56. - "There is the advantage that a small or light bullet has over a heavy one when it comes to wound ballistics. … What it amounts to is the fact that bullets are stabilized to fly through the air, and not through water, or a body, which is approximately the same density as the water. And they are stable as long as they are in the air. When they hit something, they immediately go unstable. … If you are talking about .30-caliber [like a bullet used in the M-14], this might remain stable through a human body. … While a little bullet, being it has a low mass, it senses an instability situation faster and reacts much faster. … this is what makes a little bullet pay off so much in wound ballistics." Need more proof? From The Marine Corps Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) manual “(1)For the 5.56-mm round, maximum penetration occurs at 200 meters. At ranges of less than 25 meters, penetration is greatly reduced. At 10 meters, penetration by the M16 round is poor as a result of the tremendous stress placed on this high-speed round, which causes it to yaw upon striking a target. Stress causes the projectile to break up, and the resulting fragments are often too small to penetrate.”

My rifle had to be sent back for warranty multiple times the last time was because it grenaded blowing off ejection doors and butt plate, cracking receiver all after waiting 2 years for this POS and what is worst is waiting 4 months trying to sell it for a loss so a big F.U. desert tech

Kel-Tec RDB - $750 IWI X95 Tavor - $1500 Desert Tech MDR - $2500 Not understanding the draw on the MDR based on the price. It was supposed to be sub-MOA but S00tch’s group looked like about 1.5x MOA. Could be the shooter. Could be the optic (up it to a full bench rest with a 4-12x50 optic). But with the trigger issues and the grouping shown, it doesn’t look like it’s worth 3-4x an RDB or almost 2x a Tavor. Maybe worth 2k if it came with all three caliber’s parts standard and a primary arms 1-6 w/ ACSS from the factory.

Its a brand new design, a company that went from building high end precision bolt guns to semi auto's. The growing pains are definitely there, the problems are resolved. I'm an owner of the 2019 MDR and it runs flawless. No malfunctions, i have 700 rds down the pipe and will continue to keep that count rising. DT will take care of you. It's built as the SCAR killer, the price point is as such similar to the SCAR.

you keep mentioning 300blk, but 556 rifles are barely shipping, if you want to call it shipping, and the revised ejection chutes for them aren't even in. if you do select 300blk conversion on the site you're given a nov/2019 estimated ship date, which means 2020 if you're lucky. what i really wanted to see though is another drop test.

As a lefty who hates Tavors (and is indifferent to the AUG) and has concerns about size and maneuverability, this is exactly what I need. The caliber flexibility is a huge tactical and practical bonus too. And yea there's been some issues in the past, but it's honestly not a big deal since Desert Tech is transparent and stands by their product. They are constantly debugging and improving this platform, so its only a matter of time before this thing is near perfect and has the track record to prove it. Innovation is well worth the teething issues. But that price tag means poor guys like me need time to save up for it. The wait sucks but hey at least we'll be getting our money's worth.

@Braxton Nelson I never said anything that contradicted what you said or required your clarification. I specifically pointed out that given the hand fine tuning they referred to it is probable that they can't make it cheaper. But about referencing the SCAR, it is made by a well established internationally large firearm manufacturer who already prices their firearms higher than competing products depending on their name. Saying it is under the price of a SCAR is pretty humorous, as many versions of that rifle have been scuttled from procurement due to their expense and the lack of the funding organizations ability to pay for them given actual budget realities. If you were replying to the original comment, then you shouldn't have had it reference my name.

Il y a 4 mois
Braxton Nelson

@Darren Wade Its a high end battle rifle meant to "kill" the SCAR. It wont be dropping price. Its already priced under the SCAR...

Il y a 4 mois
Darren Wade

You saw the response from DT that they hand deburr the sears to specification? Depending on how much hand fine tuning is in the gun in order to make it reliable it might not be possible to reduce the price much.
